Cliff Yoder Sr.
In 1995 Mr. Cliff Yoder decided to transition from an employee of a large drywall firm to an independent business owner when he opened the doors to Standard Construction Services. From the beginning, Standard Construction made a commitment to deliver quality products and services to their clients.
Cliff began Standard Construction Services with the help of his youngest son Curtis who at the time, was employed by a large drywall company himself. Unfortunately for Cliff, the company asked Curtis to transfer from Tulsa to their Florida office and Cliff was left to grow Standard Construction on his own. Although Curtis moved to Florida, he never really left his father’s side and was always just a phone call away.
Building a foundation
By 2003, Cliff expanded his leadership team with the addition of Mark Nichols and his eldest son Kevin Yoder. Kevin, spent more than 15 years in the field working hand in hand with Cliff, first as a
Finisher and later as Project Manager and Production. Kevin’s commitment was instrumental in growing the field operations. Today, Kevin leads the Standard Estimating team in their operations. His hands-on knowledge makes him an outstanding Estimator and decision maker. With Kevin at the helm, Cliff knew it was time to find someone to lead his field team. With a background in General Construction and experience in the Millwork Industry, Mark Nichols was an instant asset to the Standard Construction leadership team. In 2005 Mark stepped forward to join the Standard team as General Superintendent. In addition to his construction knowledge, Marks ability to “tell it like it is regardless” has kept Standard credible and dependable in the completion of its projects. We like to say Mark is “passionate” in his approach to problem-solving and we love him for it!
Industry Leaders
Over the past 25 years, Standard Construction maintained their leadership in the Tulsa drywall market from exterior to interior finish and specialized services in the Health Care sector. Being a leader in the Health Care segment was accomplished through the development and perfecting of the OHDS guidelines and regulations that apply to new construction and remodeling of Health Care Facilities. With the Standard construction process, health facility clients can still function and have departments remain productive and compliant during the construction process.
The next generation
With all the twists and turns that accompany the construction industry, in 2017 Curtis was able to fully rejoin Standard Construction to help the team reach future goals. Cliff knew, by combining the talent of Kevin and Mark with Curtis driving growth he would be able to take a step back from the day to day operations of the company in order to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Looking ahead
Today, Standard Construction Services is one of the largest interior & exterior finish contractors in Oklahoma and surrounding states. Standard built their reputation on delivering quality craftsmanship and excellence one project at a time. The companies work history includes office buildings, healthcare, retail, hotel/motel, mixed-use residential, government, institution, and religious projects. The Standard team is proud of their reputation and accomplishments and are looking forward to continued growth in the drywall industry.
